A touch of nostalgia

'With player-coach Paul Rolls of Brentwood '72 choosing an experimental England squad to view potential candidates for the England-Scotland 'Olympic Day' match, there was little sign of the drama to come as they coasted to a 12-1 win over Ireland in the opening match.' .....................

................'England in fact looked dead and buried at 0-5 down with 7 minutes played. Tony Tropp of Brentwood '72 at last broke their duck though and by half-time they had clawed it back to 5-7. The fightback continued as the English capitalised on a Mick Hegarty '2-minutes' to level at 7-7 only to then fall behind again 7-9.'
